The Faery Tale of Aqua Marine

Hi guys, hope you’re all sparkly well and fun-filled fabulous, and enjoying the year 2016 so far. It’s going so fast. I can’t believe it’s April and Spring already. (J’adore this season when I see all the fluffy lambs in the fields.) After a long break over the New Year and Easter, where I focused on family and relaxation, the time has now come for me to launch myself into the completion of Book 3 in The Faery Tales Series: The Faery Tale of Aqua Marine. I’m super excited about this new project as for me it fulfils writing about some of my favourite subject matter which I’ve daydreamed about since being a young child; mermaids, sea creatures, pirates, buried treasure and haunted lighthouses. I think an imagination can go wild just at the mention of those things. Some of the best and most famous adventure stories have taken place in these settings – think J. M. Barrie and Enid Blyton – and for good measure I’ve also drawn inspiration from Arthurian legends surrounding the hunt for the Holy Grail.

I’m convinced it was fate that just as I have really begun to turn my attention to Aqua Marine and her underwater world, the universe dropped into my lap a delightful new little addition to my family. My 4 year old daughter had been taken to the fair and proudly returned holding aloft her hook-a-duck prize of a shiny goldfish. I freaked out at first, not having a clue what to do with it or whether it would survive the night, but after a research session on the internet of everything I needed to do to increase its chances, I found my Versace purse a little lighter and my kitchen a little fuller with a Feng Shui’d and filtered aquarium. We have named him Nemo – and yes, we know he is not an Angel fish, but we are mucho obsessed with Disney in our household. In just his first week Nemo has already begun to display his own character traits and personality and I just can’t wait to get downstairs in a morning to see him darting around his crooked rocks and swaying reeds. It’s amazing how quickly you can become so emotionally attached to such a tiny thing. I could watch him for hours, much to my boyfriend’s dismay who keeps having to tear me away from sitting trance-like by the tank. His environment connects me so perfectly to the story I have to tell and I think that’s where the fascination and magic lies.

So back to my writing. I’m crafting some very interesting new characters who I look forward to introducing you to soon. Until then, keep smiley 🙂 Try and get to the seaside and look out for mermaid bubbles. mjxoxo
