A Mini Author Interview with Melanie J Firth

Thank you so much to all my lovely Faery Tales fans who sent me questions based on the topics “first choices & favourites” for this mini interview. I’ve tried to include as many as possible here and hope it gives you a little glimpse into my world 🙂

What is your …
First choice first thing in the morning?
Make a cup of tea and read a page in my ‘Daily Angel Guidance’ book by Doreen Virtue.
First choice from your wardrobe?
Something pink! I don’t own many clothes that aren’t! If I’m working, usually a tea dress or pencil skirt and heels. If it’s the weekend, then skinny jeans, slogan vest, blazer and heels. Finished off with diamante jewellery and a designer handbag, obvs! I don’t ever save any clothes/shoes/jewellery to wear for ‘best.’ Every day is a best day. Everywhere is a catwalk. Live life in the now. If you die tomorrow, OMG, imagine having wasted your fave things!
First choice for lunch?
If on the go, houmous with carrot and cucumber sticks. If eating out then piles of vegetarian or seafood pasta in a cute Italian restaurant. With olives on the side.
Favourite way to work-out?
Running with my two dogs, Lunar Belle and Fudge Cake. We are lucky enough to live right next to the Trans Pennine Trail which is one long path leading through beautiful countryside and woodland for miles. We try and run it every day, but when we can’t I do sit-ups instead which is nowhere near as fun so I have to do them while watching my ‘The Hills’ box set to alleviate boredom 😉
Favourite way to chill-out?
Pink bubble bath courtesy of Lush bath bombs. I’m hooked on them! Fragranced candles lit, incense burning, Buddhist peace chants playing on the iPod and a glass of fizzy pink champagne at hand. Bliss!

Favourite holiday destination?
California, every time. I have such a crush on LA. Hollywood, Santa Monica and Venice Beach are my spiritual homes and I feel complete when I’m there. My belief in past lives leads me to think there’s a real previous connection involved. Las Vegas too is my ultimate playground and I can never go back enough. Failing that just take me to any Disneyland. I’ve been to every one there is in the world now! I reckon it’s the closest thing we can ever experience to heaven on earth.
Favourite celebrity?
Zac Efron, forever and ever amen. Anyone who knows me knows how totes obsessed I am with him. I mean come on, he is absolutely perfect in every way, so what is not to love? No one else comes close.
Favourite idols and inspirations?
I have a long list of awesome female idols who I look up to and gain inspiration from. All of them have different qualities that I channel depending on what vibe I need that particular day. I’m very eclectic. Some are not even real people, they’re fictional characters, but it’s the personality traits I identify with. Barbie, Paris Hilton, Elle Woods, Carrie Bradshaw, Heidi Montag, Marilyn Monroe, Audrey Hepburn, Gabrielle Bernstein, Marissa Lace, Rebecca Bloomwood. All these girls rock my sparkly pink tinted world and I’m forever grateful.
First choice last thing at night?
I have a very strict bedtime regime. I have to light a ‘Strawberries & Cream’ Yankee Candle while I take off my make-up and apply my face creams. I then do half an hour of yoga and meditation before writing a list of things I’m thankful for in my daily gratitude journal. Finally I never go to sleep without a squirt of Chanel No 5. It gives me luxurious star studded dreams 🙂
