Be My Valentine

Valentine’s Day is approaching this weekend! Hurry girls, if you’re currently single, you have only a day left to go out and bag yourself a boyfriend! Just kidding 🙂 Obvs we all know that we certainly don’t need another half to make us feel complete. We can do that all by our precious selves. Valentine’s Day celebrations certainly do have a habit of raising two very differing sets of emotions in people though. Those in a loved-up relationship worship the shop shelves stuffed with cute and cuddly heart-shaped merchandise, and those currently bitter about being alone, growl and scowl at such silly and useless trash. Then there are those worse kind of people evs – the ones who do have a partner but insist that it’s all just a marketing ploy to make money and they are going to boycott it regardless. Gosh, I’ve had a few of those disappointments over the years. For someone like me – you know, the spiritual, hugely materialistic designer label kind 🙂 – I grasp the opportunity to get a present bought for me with open arms. What better chance to show someone you love them than by purchasing that Vivienne Westwood purse, those Manolo Blahnik shoes, or that Gucci eau de parfum? Gifts aside, I truly think what’s not to j’adore about a day where the whole purpose of it’s existence is to celebrate love? Love is the be all and the end all and love is the only thing that makes the world go round. All of my Faery Tales stories are based on the very basic principle of love. This Valentine’s Day I want to show everyone I love just how very much they mean to me and how much I appreciate them, and that includes myself, and my daughter, and my parents, and my whole awesome set of family and friends. Just thanking them is far more important than getting a dozen red roses from a boy. But … of course … if the very cute x 100 boy in my life did want to surprise me with a giant bouquet or a never ending gift voucher for Victoria’s Secrets, then obvs I wouldn’t be complaining. Just saying in case he’s reading this … 🙂 Happy Valentine’s Day everyone xxx
